Zainab Hassan

Make-up artist Zainab Hassan takes us through her bold and beautiful shoot!

Can you tell us about the chosen look? What was the inspiration for it?

I created this look with photographer Amanda Akokhia. We wanted to create something bold and the traditional dress I wore was the inspiration.

What products did you use to create the look?

Bobbi brown skin long-wear foundation on the base. Fenty mocha mami bronzer. Khol liner. Huda beauty lipstick – last night

Any tips for anyone at home wanting to recreate a similar look?

Go for a base that adds radiance to your skin, a good base is the key to every flawless look. And you can never put too much bronzer on!

What would you say your signature beauty look is?

Soft sultry glam. I love soft simple glam on the base and then I like my eyes to really pop in comparison.

"I love how multi purpose Dr.Lipp is. I love how long lasting the hydration is and the new body cream has been amazing for keeping my hands hydrated all day long."

Here at Dr.Lipp, we make multi-use skincare solutions to keep life simple and reduce our carbon footprint – do you think it’s important to streamline your beauty kit?

Yes, I think we all have a responsibility to reduce our carbon footprint in any little way we can.

What would you be doing if you were not a makeup artist?

I’d probably be a writer, i think I could do both at the same time actually, we’ll see 😉

What items should everyone have in their kit?

Foundation powder and lip balm!

Who is your dream client?

Ryan Destiny or Justine Skye

Do you have any career highlights so far?

I have so many. Working with mama Africa herself, Yemi Alade, will always be a highlight!

What is a day in the life like for you?

Since lockdown my days have looked very different. I spend most of my days creating content which keeps me busy in between bookings. Shoots are usually long days so when I have a shoot day my days tend to be set based which is always fun, i love being on set.

What is the best piece of beauty advice you ever received and what is the best piece you could give?

Best, “Have a better relationship with your makeup and take the time to learn what your products will do.” – Sam Fine. My advice is, just go for it, it’s only makeup and will come right off so have fun in the learning process and don’t be too over cautious

What are your favourite uses for your fave Dr.Lipp product?

Lips for hydration of course, hands as hand cream and I also love to brush it through my brow ever so slightly on a no makeup day to neaten them and keep them in place.
