We’ve all heard of Greenwashing right?!
Greenwashing (or “Green Sheen”) has become a common practice in the cosmetic industry. Lots of companies are claiming their products are environmentally friendly and charging a premium for them but having no substantial evidence to back up their claims (literally what on earth?!) This false marketing is not only unethical but it’s also deceitful to the consumer and goes against everything we stand for.
At Dr Lipp, we put our money where our mouth is, and that is why we are thrilled to have partnered with Provenance, who verify and validate all our sustainability claims.
Provenance have created a world leading directory that cuts through the Greenwash and “empowers citizens to choose products that match their values” (source: provenance.org).
They are an independent social enterprise, Certified B Corp and have even appointed their own integrity council – so as you’ve probably guessed, they are totally on our vibe.
Provenance created Proof Point technology to enable businesses of any size or location to provide a statement of impact that can easily be shared with consumers. A Proof Point can be linked to a business or a product and help businesses communicate impact with integrity. They “enable a consistent, comparable information presentation with robust, multi-layered evidence that’s tamperproof, timestamped, and easy to validate.” (Source - open.provenance.org).
Honesty, transparency, and doing our best for humans and the planet are at the heart of everything we do and that is why we spent the last eight months gathering all the information that Provenance needed to substantiate our claims. It was a huge job, and we are proud to reveal our first 8 proof points…
Brand Proof Points:
Audited Working Conditions
Carbon Measured: our estimated carbon footprint was 22.19 mtCO2e.
Female-Led Business (yaaas!)
Independently Owned (by our very own Pontine!)
All our products were verified for being FSC approved - the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international, non-governmental organisation established in 1993 and dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. All were noted on their partly recyclable packaging and 13/16 are verified to have no plastics inside (more on this to come, along with more Proof Points as you know we are 100% plastic free).
